Recently I was able to speak with a former butcher and foreman in a pig slaughterhouse, located south of Oldenburg. He worked for several years and was willing to share with me his experience with employees of subcontractors.

He mentions very poor working conditions for employees of subcontractors, including major deficiencies in terms of safety and consideration of workplace accidents. Employees subcontracted and the others have no contact with each other, they must go through the foremen. But he said there can be no improvement because all the meat industry is based on subcontracting and works in “Mafia”.
